In this video, we take a first look at the Command UI WordPress plugin, a tool designed to enhance efficiency within WordPress, especially for users managing multiple tasks and settings across e-commerce sites. Traditional WordPress backend navigation can be cumbersome, often requiring several steps to access specific settings or install plugins. This can be particularly time-consuming when working on extensive e-commerce setups where settings are nested within other settings.
The video demonstrates how tasks that typically require multiple clicks and page reloads, such as installing a plugin, can be streamlined using Command UI. For instance, rather than navigating from the dashboard to install a plugin, users can simply press a key command twice, bringing up a command bar where they can quickly search for, install, and activate plugins—all without leaving the front end of the site.
Command UI makes complex navigation, like accessing WooCommerce tax settings or editing products, much faster. Instead of wading through menus, users can type a few commands, bringing them directly to the desired settings page or product editor. This direct approach reduces loading times and eliminates the need to constantly switch between pages, significantly speeding up the workflow.
Command UI also includes shortcuts to access common tasks, such as opening user settings with “u u” or editing pages with “e.” These shortcuts, along with specific keys for editing within the Bricks builder, add further convenience for frequent WordPress users. While the presenter is still getting accustomed to the plugin, they note a marked increase in productivity and expect even better efficiency over time as they memorize shortcuts.
